#1: Celebration in the Oaks

This light show in City Park is not only one of the best Christmas light displays in New Orleans but has been voted one of the best in the whole country. Over 1 million lights set the trees in the park aglow along with animated displays and a 100-year old carousel which have become favorites for Christmas in New Orleans.

#2: Audubon Zoo Lights

Audubon Park Christmas lights are an event for the whole family with animal-themed light displays and nightly entertainment. The highlights include silk-lighted animal creations and the lighted Gum Drop Hop and Twinkle Tunnel. Take the kids to the Elves Workshop to write a letter to Santa before posing for a picture against the backdrop of the glowing zoo.

#3: Christmas in the Park

 Just ten minutes away in Metairie, Lafreniere Park comes alive during the holidays with not only amazing LED light displays but a whole evening of Christmas activities. Only here can you find the lighted figures of two Saints players, Marvel superheroes and gingerbread men in one holiday light display. After decorating your own ornament complete the night with hot chocolate and a ride on the carousel.

#4: Luna Fête

The Crescent City is no stranger to great art and Luna Fête has played host to some of the best light artists in the world, as well as New Orleans talented youth. This outdoor exhibit features projection mapping displays across the iconic buildings of Lafayette Square as well as laser beams, dancing lights, and installations. Light truly becomes art in the magical world of Luna Fête.

#5: Waldorf Wonderland

 One of the special New Orleans Christmas traditions since the 1930s, the lighting of the Waldorf Wonderland lobby at the Roosevelt Hotel is simply not to be missed. This year the display is promised to be even brighter with 20,000 more lights as well as 44 Christmas trees. While the theme of the decorations is always a surprise, this Christmas tradition is historically free to the public and a sight to behold.

#6: Lights on the Lake

A list of Christmas lights in New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without this celebration on Lake Pontchartrain. The members of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation deck their boats with holiday lights before setting sail around the lake to the delight of spectators. This year the event also includes Christmas crafts for kids, a holiday shopping village with local vendors, and a chance for photos with Santa.
